rob-preaching

My name is Robert Carlos Castillo from Dallas, Tx. I am a Baptist, Hispanic, Bookworm, Minister, Biblicist, Philosopher, Protestant, Evangelical, Conservative, Calvinist, Student, Teacher, Preacher, Spirt-filled, Blood-spilled, Born-Again, Hopeful, Redeemed, Restless & Always Reforming…..unfinished Christian

My doctrinal commitments can be summarized in two Southern Baptist Statements of faith:

(1) The Abstract of Principles

(2) The Baptist Faith & Message 2000

More importantly than any creeds or marginalized labels I believe that God made man for His glory. God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him through His Son Jesus Christ. I believe Jesus Christ was crucified, buried, and bodily raised to life. He is now seated at the right hand of the Father in glory. Because of Christ’s victory over death and because of His exaltation by the Father, He reigns forever over all.

Therefore, I agree with Abraham Kuyper who said: “There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry: ‘Mine!’” I am a youth minister in Duncanville, TX at New Life Baptist Church. The youth groups name is the M.O.B.  according to the text of  I Corinthians 12:27 “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it” which states all believers in Christ are Members Of the Body.”  I am currently in a very committed relationship with Monica Ruiz my sweet bride to be and currently attending Criswell College in Dallas, Tx pursuing my degree in Theology.

As I live day to day knowing as the Apostle James we don’t’ know what our life will be like tomorrow because life is like a vanishing vapor (Jame 4:14) we live for Christ for only that which is done for Christ will last.  I remember an quote from the missionary Jim Elliot in his diary entry,  the Auca Indian martyr, wrote, “God, I pray Thee, light these idle sticks of my life, that I may burn for Thee. Consume my life, my God, for it is Thine. I seek not a long life, but a full one, like You, Lord Jesus.” As you can see i love quotes and the words of heroes of the faith. I believe we are so surrounding but such a great cloud of witness and to learn from the great heroes of the faith whom God sovereignly use (Heb. 12:1).  I aspire to consecrate myself and the time alotted to me to make His Name known and find joy in Him while bringing Glory to God. On the subject of consecration i would like to read for you an entry from a diary by the late great puritan pastor Jonathan Edwards as he writes on his own consecration to God.

I claim no right to myself—no right to this understanding, this will, these affections that are in me; neither do I have any right to this body or its members—no right to this tongue, to these hands, feet, ears, or eyes.

I have given myself clear away and not retained anything of my own. I have been to God this morning and told Him I have given myself wholly to Him. I have given every power, so that for the future I claim no right to myself in any respect.

I have expressly promised Him, for by His grace I will not fail. I take Him as my whole portion and felicity, looking upon nothing else as any part of my happiness. His law is the constant rule of my obedience. I will fight with all my might against the world, the flesh, and the devil to the end of my life.

I will adhere to the faith of the Gospel, however hazardous and difficult the profession and practice of it may be. I receive the blessed Spirit as my Teacher, Sanctifier, and only Comforter, and cherish all admonitions to enlighten, purify, confirm, comfort, and assist me.

This I have done. I pray God, for the sake of others, to look upon this as a self-dedication, and receive me as His own. Henceforth, I am not to act in any respect as my own. I shall act as my own if I ever make use of any of my powers to do anything that is not to the glory of God, or to fail to make the glorifying of Him my whole and entire business.

If I murmur in the least at afflictions; if I am in any way uncharitable; if I revenge my own case; if I do anything purely to please myself, or omit anything because it is a great denial; if I trust to myself; if I take any praise for any good which Christ does by me; or if I am in any way proud, I shall act as my own and not God’s. I purpose to be absolutely His.

The question you might wonder is why I started a blog. Well it’s a place to write my rants and ravings on certain topics and discussions concerning Christianity. Also to provide resources, links, info to free christian resources. I am also a book reviewer as i recieve books from a variety of publishing houses to post book reviews on my site and others. Lastly but not least post pictures and vids to share with our youth ministry and church for teaching and edification of the church. Thanks for stopping by…God Bless
